For the liberal leaning libertarians. Ideology matters, let's talk about it.

@Hamishcampbell

Someone from a left libertarian instance: I don't think you can end the idea of ownership as long as scarcity exists.

Me (toning down my "8 heads in a duffle" speech): Robin Hood could make 99% of the world 50x wealthier by robbing only 8 men. I think the relationship between ownership and scarcity is not as you think.

Left libertarian: (Canned thing about you can't rob the rich)

Me (goes away scratching my head)

@AceNovo we are reaching (maybe sliping passed) a point were (in the western counterys) the are meany more goods than needs - we live in post scarcety allready, its the distribution that is the problem.

@Hamishcampbell
Capitalism is past the point of thinking of itself as a system for production and distribution and has been since the commercialization of electricity. It's about capturing value, which means obstructing distribution - DRM, "loss prevention," metered services, pay walls, and fighting "socialism" in government (social safety nets and taxes that affect the wealthy)

@Hamishcampbell
That's where the left starts squabbling. 😎

There are strong opinions and a lot of work needs to be done to composite those into systems. Also, the systems designed by those who've lived under Capitalism our whole lives will set precedents for what comes after, but will contain assumptions that need to be reevaluated later.

A lot of ideas revolve around contracts, and did even before blockchain. We can build communities around these ideas now.

@Hamishcampbell
The way we find out what it would look like to step away from capitalism is to do it. Mutual aid organizations, coops, communes, unions and guilds are a step or a half step in that direction.

I'm looking at ways to simulate intentional communities and contract economies in virtual worlds, games, because there are limits to testing social and economic ideas in real life - like time, material needs, and privacy.

@AceNovo I have lived my whole life in the first paragraph, still do. Trying to outreach this world with 5he project based on the have a bit of foundation funding to support the projects till they become self standing.

@Hamishcampbell
I thought I remembered there being more links in your bio at one point.

So "What does this look like?" was probably meant to be more personal than hypothetical, but I do feel very strongly that we don't have the tools or environments yet to make strong assertions here. I want real world efforts to succeed, but it's more important to have experiences documented and preserved so that we can learn from them.
