[fb user]"Im not deletin my FB account anytime soon. We're in a constitutional crisis/slo-mo coup (in part thanks to Fb and Cambridge Analytica), & in responding it we'll need to share info. FB is how I stay in touch w a lot of people (incl many Im in touch w no other way), send out some news & analysis & occasional calls to action, follow many activists & find some news stories. Shutting down that capacity now wud reduce my range and access to info & allies, & I doubt it wud harm Fb."

(user goes on telling how to make fb accounts secure)
>> Responses anyone?
>> I dont know if this user tried joining Mastodon but i doubt it. I'm always hearing people saying how pathetic to promote Mastodon on fb but isn't this contradictive too? Isn't it the proof that Fb is monopolising even your decision making and your ability to initiate change?

@Ludo #fashernista and #geekproblem they will change when #openweb reaches a critical mass till then keep reaching out, repeat, repeat and repeat. think the is something in the red flag song on this subject :)

@hamishcampbell is your daily breakfast made of optimism only? 😂 🙏

On the subject of blank pessimism and outright rejection of #deletefacebook the words of the old song the red flag come to mind:

Then raise the scarlet standard high
Beneath its folds we'll live and die
Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer
We'll keep the red flag flying here.

It suits today the meek and base
Whose minds are fixed on pelf and place
To cringe beneath the rich man's frown
And haul that sacred emblem down

@jim @Ludo slow and steady 1 a day scroll down, would be nice to see a jump, am outreaching/talking to BBC and Guardian about a article, but just talk so far no bite. the project needs a bit of mainstream outreach to jump.

@hamishcampbell @Ludo I just tried mentioning it on the ECF list. I think a solid bit of discussion there about it would help.
